9) Click on create button on top.

10) You can see status “Created the package yourusername_packagename”. WHM creates packages by adding your user name as prefix to package name.

#1 – In cPanel, set the default address to :fail:

This means that you must have a POP3 account or Mail Forwarder setup for every address@yourdomain.com that you actually want to receive mail at. Any other address@yourdomain will fail. (Which is good, because spammers usually target random email addresses).

#2 – Do NOT use any common email addresses. This includes (accounting, billing, sales, support, webmaster, abuse, ect… ect…)

Instead of having a POP3 or Fowarder for common addresses, setup an auto-responder instead. Your autoresponder could have a message similar to the following:

This let’s people who are really trying to reach you know the proper address to send mail to. Luckily spammers usually use fake addresses, and will never see the auto-reply.

#3 – If you want to list your email address on your website, make it an image. Spammers sometimes use automated software that searches web sites for email addresses. Luckily their software can not read email addresses if there an image.

#4 – Be cautious when filling out forms on the web. Alot of offers on the web are really just an attempt to get your email address. So if you don’t fully trust a company, don’t give them your email address. If you really want to give an email address to an untrusted company, create a yahoo or gmail account.

FTP (File Transfer Protocol), is a way of moving files from one machine to another. FTP is the most common way to update a web site with contribute.

To connect to an FTP server with Contribute, you must have the following basic information:-

1.The site address:- Example: http://www.domain.com . The site address is the URL which you use to navigate to a site in a browser. When you put a URL address into a browser, the browser looks to the HTTP server for that information.

2.The FTP server address:- The FTP server address may have an ftp prefix, such as ftp.domain.com, or it may look like a standard url, such as www.domain.com .

3.User name and password:- FTP account information which may differ from other server login information. This info. is usually provided by the web hosting company.

4.The location of the web files on the server:- You have to upload the web files for your website to the web directory for your website . For example, /public_html/ means that your website’s files are contained in a folder called public_html, which is in the root folder(/home/username) of the website.

 

Where do I upload my files?

All files and folders should go to the public_html directory. The public_html folder can be accessed either by FTP or via FileManager in cPanel.

To access your web hosting account via FTP, connect to yourdomain.com (replace with your actual domain name)

Be sure to create an index file for your first page. This can be index.htm, index.html, index.php, etc.

Please note, our Linux hosting servers are case sensitive so index.htm and Index.htm are two separate files. Index.htm will not be recognized as the default first page. It must be index.htm (.html, .php, etc.) in lowercase.

 

What is DNS propagation?

DNS propagation is the process by which the computers on the Internet update their records to reflect new Domain Names and site names. Once your Domain Name has been propagated throughout the Internet, your Domain Name can be accessed. Once your web hosting account is set up, the process can take from 24-72 hours.

The Domain Name System is a global network of servers that translate host names into IP addresses. Most DNS servers are UNIX machines running BIND (Berkely Internet Name Domain) software; other platforms and software are available. The software is composed of two elements: the name server and a resolver. The name server responds to browser requests by supplying name-to-address conversions. This information is cached (saved for a predefined period of time). When/if it doesn’t know the answer, the resolver will ask another name server for the information. * equals – match the text exactly (whole words only). “Credit” will block “Credit”.
* matches regex – matches the text based on regular expression (regex) rules. Regular expressions are a powerful but complex area. You do not need to use regular expression filters for most circumstances.
* contains – match the specified text in any circumstance. “porn” will block “porn” and “pornography”.
* begins with – match the specified text when it is the beginning of a word. “porn” will block “porn” and “pornography” but not “teenporn”.
5. Enter the filter text in the third field. This text is case sensitive.
6. Enter the destination for the filtered e-mail in the Destination field. There are three separate types of destination:
* Destroy the e-mail – Enter Discard in the field.
* Redirect to another address – Enter the e-mail address to which to redirect the e-mail.
* Redirect to a script – Enter the full script path on the machine that hosts your website.
7. Click on the Activate button.

* To redirect all e-mail from “john@paradise.net”, enter: From, equals, john@paradise.net, david@corse.org.nz
* To delete all e-mail from paradise.net, enter: From, contains, paradise.net, Discard
* To delete all references to pornography, enter: Any Header, contains, porn, Discard
* To discard all e-mail that Spam Assassin has marked as spam, enter: SpamAssassin Spam Header, begins with, yes, Discard
